The Cross Style Conference is a Friday through Sunday meeting.  The conference focuses on a diverse Spiritual Formation. In the traditional Revival, spiritual formation is accomplished via the revival services. This is a valuable part of Spiritual growth, so the conference format incorporates this into its weekend. But there is another important aspect in which the tradition Revival setting neglects; the “class room” setting.

What would a Cross Style Conference look like at my church? The format for the weekend can always be flexible, especially in the time aspect, but typically the service and teaching times are as follows:

Friday 7pm – opening service

Saturday 9:30 to 10:15am – 1st teaching session

Saturday 10:30 to 11:30am – 2nd teaching session

Saturday 7pm – evening service

Sunday morning – Sunday School hour teaching session (optional)

Sunday morning – morning worship closing service

*Note - Some churches choose to opt out of the Sunday evening service, while others choose to incorporate it into the weekend. 

What are the benefits of a Conference format over the Revival format? The conference format puts an intense focus on teaching and training during the weekend. Incorporated within the schedule are 3 teaching sessions. These vary, but typically they are centered fundamental topics like Christian Living, What is the Bible, Parenting Teens, etc.  These are very practical and can be tailored to fit your churches needs . The teaching classes are dialogical in setting and allow for questions along with insights to be expressed. They are an extremely significant aspect to the weekend.

The time element of the conference can also be an extremely significant aspect of the meeting.  The conference format eliminates the competition with the Monday and Tuesday drop off in attendance.  Today’s church is filled with busy people and having another “something to do”, even if extremely important and spiritual in nature, can be overwhelming in an already hectic schedule filled with work, school, sports, etc.  The conference is focused on people giving a Friday night through Sunday morning of their lives to an invaluable movement of Jesus Christ in their lives through not only services, but practical teaching and training as well.
